While the Liturgy and above all the Eucharist are at the heart of our coming together, Parish life extends into the social and many aspects of support for our local community and the wider world. It is deeply inclusive, cherishes both young and old, the infirm, the sick and those with special needs. Just as we gather together to pray we join together for many social, fundraising and outreach activities.
We delight in every new birth, baptisms, seeing children grow into adults, taking on the responsibilities that go with this including often taking part in charitable outreach activities both here and abroad.
We are, without doubt, very social! Whether it be our parish lunches, tea parties, curry nights to raise money for a parish in need in India or one of our very many other occasions, people come together, work together, form friendships and support each other.
Coffee is served at all the mass locations in the parish after Sunday Mass. This gives an opportunity for people to meet, talk and relax in a very informal setting, with a good cup of coffee. The children have space to run and play having been re-energised with squash and biscuits.
The teas and coffees are served and organised by a group of volunteers on a rota basis. New volunteers are always welcome.
Coffee After Mass
Parish lunches take place in the parish hall on a Sunday approximately every two months.
These are very happy occasions where parishioners of all ages and their families & friends come together to share a beautifully prepared meal and enjoy being together in a relaxed informal setting. The lunches are announced at Mass, in the Parish Bulletin and via the Events page
The parish tea party takes place once a month, this is open to all but is especially appreciated by the more senior members of the parish. It offers an opportunity to socialise, to meet old friends, make new ones and chat over tea, delicious cakes and sandwiches. To learn more contact the organiser Tish Watkinson Here
Parish Tea Party
This is a Parish dining club which has been running successfully for many years. Dinners are organised at local venues enabling those attending to enjoy good food and excellent company in pleasant surroundings. It is an opportunity to get to know your fellow Parishioners away from the Church environment. Also, importantly, those of us who have spouses and partners who are not Catholics can invite them to come as well. That side of it is really beneficial. If you would like to attend, please email Carolyn Jensen and she will arrange to send you details of the next event. She can be contacted Here
The Campion Club
Typically held once a year, the All Parish Quiz Night is always a popular event. There will be fiendish questions, some pictorial, some musical, and some impossible! Individuals may want to organise themselves in advance to make up a table or part of a table but many turn up on the night to form an ad-hoc group to compete for the "Cup"
The Quiz is in two parts with a dinner provided in between and a bar is on hand throughout to lubricate the brain! Lunches are announced after Mass and look out for details in the Parish Newsletter and on the website
